Troubleshooting

How does Scafflinq's billing work?

Overview

Scafflinq uses a pay-for-use billing model.

  • Your account is free to set up. You can create projects, add team members, and get everything ready.

  • You only start paying once you begin using Active tags on erected scaffolds.

Key billing terms

What is an Active tag?

A tag is Active when it is:

  • Assigned to a scaffold in Scafflinq, and

  • That scaffold is considered erected / installed (i.e., it hasn’t been marked as dismantled).

As long as the scaffold remains erected, the tag remains Active.

What is an Inactive tag?

A tag becomes Inactive when it is no longer on an erected scaffold, such as when the scaffold is dismantled or the project is archived.

Inactive tags are not billed.

How does a tag become Inactive?

A tag becomes Inactive when either of the following happens:

  1. A team member marks the scaffold as dismantled in Scafflinq

  2. A project is archived

    • When you archive a project, all scaffolds in that project are automatically treated as dismantled, and their tags become Inactive.

✅ Once a tag is Inactive, billing stops for that tag going forward.

What will I pay?

Pay-as-you-go pricing (tag-based)

Scafflinq’s standard billing is based on how many Active tags you use:

  • First 5 Active tags: free

  • From the 6th Active tag onward: $1.00 AUD per tag, per week

You’re only billed while a tag is Active (i.e., while its scaffold is erected).

For the latest pricing and plan options, refer to the Pricing page.

Enterprise plans

If you’re on an Enterprise / Partner plan, your billing may be different (e.g., a fixed annual agreement with included allowances). Your invoice will follow the terms agreed in your plan.

Billing frequency and invoices

When do you get billed?

  • One invoice is generated weekly

  • Invoices are generated every Sunday and cover the previous 7 days of usage

How is the weekly charge calculated?

Each week, we total the “Active use” of your tags over that 7-day period, then apply:

  • the free allowance (first 5 Active tags), and

  • the weekly per-tag rate for any additional Active tags.

Where is the invoice sent?

Invoices are emailed to the Billing email set in your account’s Billing area, and are also available to view/download from the Customer Invoices section.

GST / tax

Invoices are issued in AUD, and taxes (such as GST) are applied where required based on your billing details.

Example

If you had 12 Active tags during the week:

  • 5 are free

  • 7 are billed

  • 7 × $1.00 AUD = $7.00 AUD (plus any applicable tax)

How to avoid being billed for dismantled scaffolds

If a scaffold has come down on site, make sure your team updates it in Scafflinq:

  • Mark the scaffold as Dismantled, or

  • Archive the project once the job is complete

If a scaffold isn’t marked as dismantled in Scafflinq, its tag may remain Active and continue billing.
