Most jurisdictions require scaffolds to be inspected by a competent person before first use, after any alteration or repair, following storms or other events that could affect stability — and at regular intervals in between, typically at least every 30 days in Australia and every 7 days in the UK.
Australia & New Zealand
Under WHS regulations and the joint AS/NZS 4576 standard, scaffolds must be inspected by a competent person before use, after any alteration or event affecting stability, and at intervals not exceeding 30 days — with records kept available on site. New Zealand’s WorkSafe guidelines apply the same regime under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

United Kingdom & Ireland
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require scaffold inspection at least every 7 days and after any event affecting stability, with reports completed within 24 hours. Ireland’s Construction Regulations apply the same 7-day regime via GA3 inspection reports.
